Thomas Aloysius Dornin (1800-1874), a United States naval officers. Dornin, born in Ireland, was educated at St. Mary's College in Baltimore and entered the Navy in 1815. In 1826, he was promoted to Lieutenant and in 1841, to commander. In 1860, as the commander of the screw frigate San Jacinto, he served with Africa Squadron, a United States Navy's unit established for the purpose of combatting international slave trade.
